BLEACH TYBW Episode 8: SOUL KING REVEALED

It's that time of the week again and we

are back with yet another bleach 

episode and this week I'm sharing

my thoughts on episode 8 titled (the

shooting star project zero mix) this

episode adapts the aftermath following

the Quincy's first invasion of the Soul

Society it has a significant change of

pace since we have had a lot of battle

intensive episodes and this has been the

case ever since the anime has started so

it's kind of a welcomed breath of fresh

air to now sit in with the characters

and just take in what they are going

through tensions are very high

especially amongst the captains as we

are learning about the true extent of

the damage and the casualties inflicted

upon the soul Society now this episode

features several cameos from characters

that we know and love we also get to see

the fullbringers return as they are

revealed to be training with ganju as

well as hints that a fan favorite a

wrong car may be hanging out with

Urahara and the Gang now if all of this

wasn't exciting enough the main

highlights of episode 8 involve the

reveal of the highly anticipated zero

division they are a group of five of the

most elite Shinigami that attach with

serving the soul King through that

introduction the story takes a turn as

the Shinigami now prepare for the

inevitable Return of the Quincy where

yuhobach and his army have promised to

destroy the soil Society once and for

all while episode 8 focuses on a lot of

setup and Exposition it is already

fascinating stuff that I cannot wait to

start talking about this episode adapts

chapters 515 all the way up to 519 of

the manga so a total of five chapters

within the 20-minute span of this

episode now these chapters are very

dialogue heavy and it results in a lot

of material being condensed down as

there are several cuts and Emissions

made not only to comedic moments but

other material where there's some

Exposition being delivered that Kubo

chooses not to include within the anime

so the episode starts with the Shinigami

from the fourth division transporting

all of the wounded and critical patients

isane is seen to be speaking with

unohana about the wounded being carried

in as she asks why none of the injured

were brought in for treatment during the

battle as she questions whether if it

was the right thing to do to stay away

from the battlefield while the invasion

was going on but unahana explains that

she was requested by Yamamoto not to

leave the squad for barracks and she had

ended up honoring the final order of the

head captain we then cut to shunsui

standing where Yamamoto had been

defeated as we see him watching over the

crater where his body had been decimated

there appears to be no remains left of

the head captain aside from his broken

Zanpaktu, then after the opening

sequence Ichigo lends that Urahara or

Hime and Chad are safe within hueco

Mundo we event shown Ikaku who refuses

to believe that his captain was defeated

by the enemy we then see hanataro

requesting for Ichigo to have further

treatment but he states that he is fine

which doesn't appear to be the case

because he still is in fact badly

wounded Shinji arrives to tell Ichigo

that Rukia and renji's procedures within

the critical wound Department have just

been completed and this is where Ichigo

learns about the extent of their

injuries thankfully that condition is

now stable as he ends up speaking to

rookie who thanks him for coming to save

the soul Society but Ichigo states that

he wasn't of much help but then she

reassures him by stating that he was

responsible for driving away yuhobach if

Ichigo didn't arrive when he had then

the Soul society would be in a even

worse State as he tries to lift him up

by telling him that he shouldn't be so

hard on himself and he needs to stick

his chest out more Ichigo is then rushed

away to see Mayuri who wants to speak to

him about his tensile zangetsu blade

meanwhile Shinji comments on how once

again Ichigo is busy as usual and he is

not looking after himself instead he is

way too concerned about the well-being

of others Rukia also questions the look

on ichigo's face as she states that it

looks like he is hiding something this

of course is in reference to Ichigo

being troubled about what he had learned

from you about where he had revealed to

him hints about the identity of his

mother learning that he may have Quincy

Heritage we then follow up with a few of

the captains of gathered for a meeting

following the invasion they all look

visibly defeated and it is reported that

kimpachi and biakya may never be able to

carry out their duties again soifon ends

up scalding the messenger Shinigami as

she responds angrily stating that they

are already dealing with enough and they

don't need to hear about any additional

Bad News kensei tells it to stop

embarrassing herself but before they

continue arguing komamura tells siphon

to stop ashun sweet then takes charge

and reminds them all that the duty of

the gotei 13 isn't to mourn the dead but

it is to protect the soul Society we can

see so early on after the Quincy's

invasion shinsui is already taking up

the responsibility of a leadership

position here as he has no choice but to

pick up the pieces Ichigo is then seen

to speak to Mayuri about his broken

Bankai where he learns that once a

Bankai is destroyed it can never return

to what it once was Miri then gets a

call where he learns that the zero

division are coming and that Ichigo

should accompany him shinsui educates

Ichigo about where the zero division are

coming from as he explains that the

walls that surround the cerate during

emergency situations like the time when

Ichigo and the others had invaded the

soul Society typically protect the Royal

Palace under normal circumstances thus

explaining why they come down from the

sky he states that the zero division is

made up of five members and their

combined strength is greater than all of

the gote13 the zero division end up

finally being introduced in a very

comedic goofy scene as we actually get

some light-hearted banter for the first

time since the first couple of episodes

of the anime Shinji ends up being

reacquainted with curio while karinji

speaks with unohana asking if she has

perfected the healing techniques that he

had taught her as he wonders what an

explanation is behind having lost so

many soldiers during the Quincy's

Invasion shunsui kind of cuts to the

chase as he asks them why they have

arrived now as we learned that ichibe

and the others were ordered by the soul

King to help rebuild the gotei 13. as

particular emphasis is placed upon

Ichigo being taken to the soul King's

Palace siphon write for the questions

why the zero division did not assist

them when the serote was under attack

instead they have now decided to come

after the fact and they are now trying

to help to rebuild the gote 13. she ends

up being scolded by karinji who reminds

her that it is their job to protect the

cerate not the zero divisions he calls

her an embarrassment for whining about

help because they couldn't get their job

done senjumaru is then seen to have

gathered

blade they've decided to take them to

the soul King's Palace in order to heal

them because these individuals would not

fully recover if they remained within

the cerate ichibe reveals to Ichigo that

they are not taking him to be healed but

for another reason as they are then

interrupted by urahara who calls from

Hue comundo Ichigo is able to speak to

Orihime and Chad as he is reassured that

they are doing fine but they are then

interrupted by a familiar voice and fans

of this character will be able to

identify who this is immediately but we

get an even bigger hint within the anime

when we see the aranca open the curtain

revealing his hollow hole now I'm sure

that all of you know who this is as

Ichigo wonders why on Earth he is with

them he worries for the safety of his

friends but urahara reassures Ichigo to

act for himself from now on he needs to

decide about what he really wants to do

without worrying about others and

funnily enough urahara ends the call by

telling Ichigo not to worry about the

aranka who is with them because they

have reached an agreement with him this

is a key moment especially within the

manga where a lot of the burden is

lifted off of ichigo's shoulders

constantly throughout the series he

worries about the safety and well-being

of others and he ends up putting his own

issues on a back burner but the

Thousand-Year blood War Arc excels at

developing each ghost character and

helping to conclude his character Arc

and this is exactly what urahara's

conversation here was hinting at Ichigo

needs to go to the Royal Palace while

Ichigo is going to learn some

uncomfortable truths about himself and

his history which johobak had hinted at

him Ichigo then asks ichibe if they can

fix his ten thousand gatsu he is told

that it cannot be healed but it is

reassured that there is a chance that a

zambakto can be reforged within the

Royal Palace they then go to

kukakushiba's Palace and they use a

cannon to fire the tension back to the

Royal Palace now the anime does cut down

that interaction here but we do get to

see some exclusive visuals of her firing

them off now when ganju talks to kukaku

they discuss about how they have no

choice but to let Ichigo go to the Royal

Palace even if it means that this will

upset their Uncle now the anime includes

a really nice exclusive visual showing

Shin back when he was a captain as we

learned that he is their uncle and it

finally confirms ichigo's connection to

the shiba family as well as revealing

for the first time that ichigo's Dad was

the former captain of the 10th division

by the Insignia on his back we had then

shown a great scene from the manga where

ganju is seen to be training with the

forbringers as we also learned that

kukaku had actually found them wandering

within rukongai after Ichigo arrives

within the Royal Palace ichibe refers to

him as no ordinary Shinigami as Ichigo

thinks that this is the place that Eisen

had so desperately wanted to come to he

wonders how they were able to enter the

Royal Palace without an okan but ichibe

reveals that each of the zero division

members were altered by the soul King

and their bones have become the okan

Ichigo asks if he is going to be taken

to meet with the soul King but kiryo

explains to him the structure of the

Royal Palace stating that they are

currently at the entrance and the

cocoon-like structure that is floating

above them houses the soul King and

floating around it are five separate

plates which are cities that were given

to each of the members of the zero

division by the soul himself Ichigo

learns that he will be first visiting

the domain of karinji and the anime does

a great job of conveying the scale of

the Royal Palace as well as bringing it

to life with the vibrant colors and

added detail so that we can appreciate

just how large each of the cities are

that belong to the zero division members

after he arrives within karinji's Hot

Springs he learns about how soaking in

the clear water will squeeze out any

damage spiritual pressure the example of

this is shown with byakya soaking in the

water with all of the bad blood and

spiritual pressure leaving his body but

we have shown a separate red hot spring

called blood Pond hell and this is where

biakya is going to go and it is boiling

hot we learned that the Clear Water

draws out the blood while any lost blood

is then replenished within the red hot

spring and this process is repeated

several times until all of the bad blood

and bad spiritual pressure is replaced

and this is the process by which karinji

heals people this episode wraps up as

karinji tells Ichigo that he needs no

more than one night within the hot

spring after which he will return to be

twice as strong we then cut to the

credits but don't forget to check out

the brief post-credits scene at the end

of the episode as we have a stunning

scene of light glistening as we cut to

the soul King Awakening the visuals here

really succeed at conveying to us the

significance of the god of the bleach

Universe in general this was a very

bright and vibrant episode we got to see

several different locations most notably

the Royal Palace which was conveyed as

an amazing Heavenly realm way up in the

clouds it had given me similar Vibes to

kami's Lookout from Dragon Ball this

episode did end up having a lot of good

content and changes in comparison to the

manga as it had adapted five chapters of

dialogue heavy material into this one

episode episode 8 had featured a lot of

downtime and moments to just sit in with

the characters as we get to appreciate

everything that has happened and I think

that we really needed this after several

really intensive episodes like I'd

mentioned there was a lot of cut content

in episode 8 which as usual I will be

talking about in my next video where I

compare the anime versus the manga going

over everything that was cut changed and

added to the anime now let me know all
